Hipster Librarian's Reading List

My absolute favorite part of my job is when some eager young reader asks me if I can recommend a good book. The problem is that sometimes I'm so surprised, I can't recall all of my favorites, so I'm going to start a list. I'm going to seed it right now with some of my favorites, but it will continue to evolve, so next time I'm asked, I'll just pull up my list, and try to find a proper match. For my list, I will have read most of the titles, but I'm going to add some titles that I want to read, and I haven't had a chance to, because the true purpose of the list is to connect people with good books, so I wouldn't want to not connect someone with the right book for them (every reader his/her book) just because I haven't read it.

This is the first in a series of lists I will be working on. One side effect of the information age is being forced to externalize a large portion of our memory, because we have so much hard drive space, and such a finite amount of human memory, but I'm a human, and I can adapt, so I will make do with the tools I have, and become the Johnny Appleseed of hipness.
